How To Choose The Right Personal Trainer

19.06.2011

Working with a personal trainer can help you reach your fitness goals faster.  Whether you’re approaching fitness as a beginner or you have a personal fitness program that you’d like to take to the next level, working with the right personal trainer can make all the difference in the world.

Choosing a personal trainer can be challenging and overwhelming.  There are many factors to consider, including the trainer’s knowledge, experience and certification.  You’ll find a lot of personal trainers out there marketing their services (especially on the Internet), but not all of them will be a good match for your personality and fitness goals.

Here are some tips for choosing a personal trainer who will satisfy your individual fitness requirements and help you achieve your fitness goals.

  • Define your fitness goals.  Once you have a good idea about what you expect from your training, it will be easier to search for a trainer with expertise in that area.  If you’re a former couch potato who’s ready to get in shape, look for a personal trainer who specializes in basic fitness.
  • Think about where you want to train.  It helps to have a general idea about where you want to work out when choosing a personal trainer.  There might be several options in your area, from a health club near home or work to a public park to your home.
  • Determine your budget.  There is a wide range in prices for personal training, from £35 per hour to over £100.  Decide how much you’re willing to spend.

Once you’ve given some thought to the why, where and how much of personal training, it’s time to think about the “who.” Why not take advantage of Neville and Entwistle's unique 'taster session' which allows you to learn about our knowledge and experience before you comit.
