Home Mat Pilates

The Pilates method of body conditioning is a unique system of stretching and strengthening exercises developed over ninety years ago by Joseph H. Pilates. It strengthens and tones muscles, improves posture, provides flexibility and balance, unites body and mind, and creates a more streamlined shape.

The stressors in life can wreak havoc on our bodies. Busy people grow more crooked and imbalanced throughout daily living; whether it is being left or right handed, carrying bags over the same shoulder or consistent computer desk sitting. Our routines and habits cause us to constantly overuse and underuse others. This methods overall goal is to break bad habits and connect with you body. For most this means the enjoyment of moving correctly, relieving lower back pain, freeing frozen shoulders, better posture, a strong core, suppleness and a feeling of well-being.

These days Pilates is a popular method of exercises for many celebrities, actors and performing artists. It is responsible for many of the bodies that are seen in magazines, adverts and movies. It is important to remember that Pilates shouldn’t replace all exercise in your fitness programme, but should be performed as a weekly routine and is best accompanied with aerobic exercise such as running, cycling, swimming and many other sports.
